Mireille Eid

Footsteps awaken
your presence at the door.
Gusts of wind
rush into my bones
highlighting half moons.
You see them
you shake your head
and you hover unanswerable questions.
I stretch my mouth
and mock the creation
in your head.
When will you know
that fear is my companion?
When will you know
that without it
I’m motionless
